She was involved in developing the nationwide ACC NetballSmart injury prevention programme and now works with Netball NZ to “coach the coaches” on how to implement this proven injury prevention warm-up. While she was an intern at EXOS in Arizona, USA, she worked with NFL football players, MLB baseball players and Olympic athletes.  As a sports physio, Olivia has worked with the NZ Hockey Junior Black Sticks Women, NZ Hockey Women “As” and Netball NZ U21 Team. Her areas of speciality include gym-based rehab for osteoarthritis and post-operative rehab after total knee and hip replacement, rehab for ACL injuries, post-operative shoulders and low backs.  Outside of work, Olivia enjoys any active pursuit out in nature, especially water-related.  She and her partner are also kept very busy chasing after her young twin boys.

HELLE

Helle comes from Denmark and immigrated to New Zealand in 1996. She qualified as a Physiotherapist at AUT in 2000 and initially worked at Middlemore Hospital in the Orthopaedic ward.  Soon after she moved to Warkworth and started at Kowhai Physiotherapy and after working in Manual therapy for a number of years she became fascinated by Hand Therapy and has worked with Hands since 2004.

It is a very exciting area to work in and we have a very dynamic team and are looking after a large variety of injuries, including post surgery, sports, work and age related problems.

It is all about interacting with the client at their level of work, sport or life situation and for the patient to take control no matter how severe the injury or circumstance is.  The hands are very special to us all as these are our way of communication, touch and function, so it is all about getting back to normality  with confidence and as safe as possible.  I have a special attachment to the area of chronic pain and CRPS and for the individual to learn that there is always a way forward and regaining confidence in the hand and upper limb function.

My special interest lies in the outdoors that I enjoy with my husband and our two boys.  We enjoy water sports and fishing and I enjoy my gardening and bringing the goods from there to the table.
